Bother that. Skip a couple of decades and they change. That's why we Aquariuses are so often at wits end. We don't know if we're fifty years ahead of the curve, or fifty years behind it. (And sometimes we're both at the same time!)
For that matter, customs just a couple thousand miles away are different than they are here... and sometimes customs a couple hundred miles away can differ significantly. We humans are a weird bunch. ^^;;
I'm Brigid, not my birth-name, but the one I chose for Confirmation. It's a Catholic thing. Want to learn more about how I grew up? Check out my semi-autobiographical webcomic, Mary Quite Contrary.
The closest I've come to earning a living as a writer is one summer I worked as a feature columnist for a small-town newspaper. I've been telling and writing stories my whole life, though, and, hey, it's something I enjoy. Whether I manage to make a buck at it isn't that important to me.

'What millennia am I at?'
It is hard to keep track of customs. Skip a couple centuries, and they change!

So, that "old-fashioned by several centuries" thing from the prior strip is heritable? :)
peace,
Zach
@Dad: Good heavens, yes.
@Robert: As a Minnesotan I stick out rather strongly in our nation's capitol. Then again, I stick out in Minnesota, too. :P
@Zach: Let's just say that Mary's typical reading material is rather sincerely non-current.
