Chapter 11, Page 18 Doing Both

Mary takes Peter for a walk.

Gotta love little red wagons. I think every family should have one. I always wished I could go on the sort of rides Calvin and Hobbs went on, but there wasn't a national park in my backyard. Oh well.

I definitely wished I had one when I moved out of my room last month. Carrying a heavy box of belongings down a hill, through a stinging nettle bush and across a busy highway to get to the other side of town was so much FUN(.....NOT).

And all within the space of time needed to catch my train to get to the airport.

@Journo: Yeesh. A stinging nettle bush? I wasn't aware there was any other kind of nettle. Dang. No way around the bush, I take it.

@Brigid: Well...not without wasting valuable time, that is. ^^;

@Journo: True. True. I should talk. I took a shortcut through a holly hedge once. (Those are very hard, sharp leaves.)

@Brigid: Ooooh 0_0

I know holly bushes. I used to walk near holly bushes on the way to the house I lived in.

You must have been in some hurry.

@Journo: Not really, but going around it would have meant a lot of back-tracking. I was on this narrow path between two streams and going back would've involved trying to figure out how to climb down a small waterfall. Barely made it going up! I didn't think it was going to be that hard until I was actually inside the hedge and by that time I figure I might as well go all the way.

@Brigid: Oh, dear. You must have been covered in scratches. 0_0

@Journo: Ah-yep. I managed to avoid the worst of it, I think, but I was definitely not unscathed.
