Chapter 4, Page 33 Not a rabbit

his name is Peter

"And since he's likely to be a lot like you he's going to need one heck of a guardian angel, so his middle name will be Michael."

Just wanted to throw in the second part of what Mom said. It didn't fit the punch line (or the panel space) so I couldn't include it in the actual comic.

That has got to be the funniest baby naming session on record.

Chapter 4, Page 32 Meet The Baby

the baby is big, fuzzy, and loud

Yes, he really was fuzzy. Still is, but in different places. He had fluff on his ears, shoulders, and back. A puppy! Mary has a puppy for a brother!

A very loud puppy.

Dad's just thrilled to have a son. (Finally!)

Chapter 4, Page 31 Maturity

Not very mature.

Mary may be the eldest, but that doesn't mean she's the most mature. Ruth definitely takes that place.

Though I agree on her level of enthusiasm, a little restraint might be in order here.

Chapter 4, Page 30 Special Birthday Greeting

You'll always be my little brother.

Isn't he so cute and fluffy? ^-^

Chapter 4, Page 29 Birth, Finally!

It's a boy!

Why isn't Conny excited? She's not quite six yet and had her heart set on a little sister. Little kids are like that.

On the other hand, Mary's wanted a little brother since first grade. So a little obliviousness toward Conny's feelings is forgivable, right?

Oh, and yes, this is a double post. I wanted an Easter themed strip but also had to do this as close to his actual birthday as possible. It would be preferable to do it on his birthday, but that's tomorrow. Stay tuned for a special birthday card tomorrow, though. ^_^

Chapter 4, Page 28 Poor Seeker

Mary stinks at looking for Easter eggs.

Mary really is bad at this sort of thing, which is funny considering how she'll notice patterns and objects others don't. The flaming obvious just doesn't register for her. Like brightly colored eggs in a drab landscape. >.>

Chapter 4, Page 27 A Request

no babysitting from grandparents.

Nothing against Grandma, but that one incident was kinda annoying. Never did figure out why she rearranged the kitchen. (Can't really ask now.)

Wonder what Mom thought Mary had in mind?

Great, now I'm hungry.

Chaper 4, Page 26 Real Spring

reality and ideal

Anyone know of a place that is really like the idealized spring of greeting cards? Because Minnesota sure isn't it. Slush, mud, slud... wet, wet, wet.

Chapter 4, Page 25 Living Damply

fun in the dampness

Anyone else tend to get extra drippy this time of year?

Humble appologies, delay

My right arm doesn't feel good. My wrist in particular aches a bit. So it's difficult to work on Mary Quite Contrary. Hopefully, I'll get to a chiropractor soon and things will return to normal or better, but until then I would be able to update as planned.

T.T I don't like this delay, either.

Chapter 4, Page 24 Thirteen Candles

Mary goes manic for presents.

Okay... Her birthday (as well as mine) is actually tomorrow. But that's a Saturday and my update schedule calls for a post of Friday. So it's a day early. I'm sure Mary doesn't mind. ^_^

How does one "act their age" anyway? Usually it seems to mean not having any fun.

Chapter 4, Page 23 Book Box

This box is so cool!

First time Mary ever heard of a grown up who didn't approve of fantasy. Yes, technically Star Wars is sci-fi, but it is sort fantasy, too.

Anyway, that box is really cool. I still want one, but I haven't seen any in stores.

Chapter 4, Page 22 Any Day Now

Watch too many sitcoms

Sometimes you just gotta feel for parents. Especially Mary's parents. Child birth doesn't happen like in the sitcoms, you know.

It won't be long now until the baby's born. Will Mary be right? Will this prove the accuracy of the dousing pendulum? Boy or girl?

First, though, I gotta finish the rest of this week's strips.

Chapter 4, Page 21 Not So Heroic

Nothing ruins a dramatic monologue like nasal drip.

This is part of the reason I don't wear a scarf over my face. Icky.

Started working on next week's strips, but I'm not sure if I'll get them finished. The back part of the roof of my mouth is a bit raw and it's making it really hard to focus on drawing. Don't even get me started on trying to eat.

Chapter 4, Page 20 Distraction

Don't wander off.

Clothes shopping. Bleh. Never did like that. Now if Mary could be let loose in the electronics section while everyone else does whatever things would be peachy.

Well, except for the part about having to find shoes that fit. That's gotta be the worst part of shopping. Usually takes several stores to find a good pair of shoes. (Very odd shaped feet. I blame Dad.)

Chapter 4, Page 19 Stupid Stunt

Face fall into linoleum hurts, dummy.

For all Mary's intelligence she sure does pull some stupid stunts. Why didn't she just get off the chair to pick up the pencil? Why didn't she wait since she already had a pencil that she was using? No clue.

But trust me on this, it happens. (Just tried it last week, with the same result. Ouch.)

Oh, and sorry for not having an update on Friday. Again. I have this week taken care of so that won't be a problem. Now to work on next week's material.
