Chapter 5, Page 7 Law? What law?

That's illegal! So?

Some might call Dad jaded. Some might be right.

Unfortunately, there really isn't much Mary can do about this situation. And, like most human beings, she hates feeling powerless!

What amazes me is that anyone bought that property. They do realize the area floods on a fairly regular basis, right?

Chapter 5, Page 6 Now, Panic!

For this she panics?

A little shout out to Ducks Unlimited a very nice conservation group run for and by hunters. Yes, hunters have a vested interest in maintaining habitats and animal populations. After all, if these places get destroyed where would they hunt?

The Trip swamp isn't large enough and is too close to town to make good hunting land, but it's still important. At least to Mary.

Chapter 5, Page 5 Something Aweful

A ride passed the swamp ends badly.

Does anyone even read this over long weekends? I had especially expected some response to the previous strip, but so far there's nothing.

Well, I guess I should take this to mean that even though gas prices are continuing to rise at ever greater rates that a lot of people are still making a point of going on vacation this weekend. Good news for Minnesota lake country.

Expect some more freak outs in coming strips. Whether or not Mary is over reacting is entirely up to you.

Chapter 5, Page 4 They Aren't Real

Rabbit holes to other worlds.

I kid you not, my Dad actually said this. Most of you will probably get the over-sized pocket watch reference. The one about red points might not be so obvious to those of you not familiar with Celtic mythology. Basically, white animals, particularly those with red points, were thought to hail from the fairy realm. At the very least they were considered to be quite exceptional. The Tain and Mabinogion are both good references for such stories.

Chapter 5, Page 3 Lunch Delivery

Delivering lunch

Don't get too distracted, Mary!

But what is that she's looking at? I'll tell you, on Friday. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Um, yeah.

Chapter 5, Page 2 Mary Draws: deer hunting

Mary Draws: deer hunting

Mary's uncles frequently go deer hunting, so she's somewhat familiar with the frustrations that go into the hobby.

I sometimes think animals do this sort of thing on purpose.

Chapter 5, Page 1 Shiny...

Pick up the shiny rocks.

Who can resist a shiny rock? Or a rock that looks like a tootsie roll? Or even a completely dull rock with an odd shape?

I couldn't growing up. Much to Mom's consternation. lol

Chapter 5, cover All Creatures Great And Small

All Creatures Great and Small

So begins the new chapter. This is going to be a big summer for Mary, so stay tuned!

Chapter 4, Page 50 Unseasonable cold

when it rains

As a Minnesotan I have some difficulty with this global warming concept. Especially this year when the lake ice stayed around until just last week.

In any case, thinking that humans cause global warming and are going to destroy the planet or whatever seems like a serious case of arrogance to me.

That's my take, anyway.

Chapter 4, Page 49 Magic ribbon

It was like a magic trick.

Some may notice that I haven't updated the mirror site for a while. That's partially because (drum roll please) I got a job!

Yes, I have gainful employment. That does mean I have a little less time to devote to the comic, but I will try my best to maintain the three-days-a-week schedule I've set for myself.

Coloring the title page for the new chapter may prove a little tricky, though. ^^;

Chapter 4, Page 48 Strange child.

She rolled.

So who'd want to be normal?

Though having Mary as the first born might be considered a little much for new parents to take. lol

Chapter 4, Page 47 Keep busy.

If you're bored...

Boredom is a dangerous thing. If you become bored you put yourself at risk of being assigned chores.

At least that's how it is for Mary.

Oh, and my other webcomic is up. Rabbit Writer will be updated once a month for The View From Here. Let me know what you think!

Chapter 4, Page 46 What rating was this again?

Baby girls don't do that.

Taking care of a baby is a dirty job. Just as Mike Rowe (he did an episode at a daycare).

And for those of you who haven't changed a boy's diaper... yes, they really can do that.

I wonder what rating this series is going to get after this episode.
