Chapter 13, Page 10 Who cleans up the mess

Teenagers, a messy breed.

I don't think janitors (oh, we're supposed to call them custodians now?) get enough credit sometimes. We just take for granted all the stuff they have to put up with. Especially when children and teenagers are involved. Especially, teenagers. Somehow, they seem to be even messier than children. And then there are the adults who never seemed to grow out of leaving messes in their wake.

Sorry for the delay (again). Hopefully I'll be able to get my life in some semblance of order so I can return to a more stable schedule. (Or any kind of schedule.)

Good to see a new MQC!

And - too true.

@Dad: Thanks! ^_^

After having worked in housekeeping, I want to officially apologize to everyone who has ever had to clean up after me.

1. Hooray! I've been counting the days for a new strip.

2. Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about your job. Feels different to actually have been in the custodian's shoes while you are drawing them, I bet.

3. "...We just take for granted all the stuff they have to put up with..."

I hear you on that one. In my first year of University, I lived with 7 other students who were real slobs. We got at least 3 letters from the Accommodation Office complaining that we should clean up after ourselves and not make the cleaning staff's job any harder.

...I won't go into details (don't want to gross you out) but let's just say I had a shopping cart full of bottles and beer cans which I ended up taking to the recycling bins. Enough to play basketball with.

@Journo:

1. Thank you, oh loyal reader! I will try to make the wait shorter this time.

2. Yeah. I don't have the job anymore (it became too physically demanding) but I will forever appreciate the lessons learned there. (Never, I repeat, *NEVER* make the bed after you use it at a motel. It just makes things confusing for the housekeepers.)

3. Oh please. I've cleaned up after barely-supervised teenagers. I've seen things left to ferment in toilets that make me worry about the future structural integrity of the plumbing. There isn't a mess in the world that would gross me out. (Okay, maybe there is...) That said, I sympathize on the deepest level with you on this. How people can drink so much and not spend the next 24 hours on the toilet I have no idea.

@Brigid: Oh, OK. Good choice about the job.

Well, basically, besides leaving mountains of unwashed dishes in the sink, the cleaners found a pint glass filled with someone's urine in the hallway. No one bothered to pick it up It wasn't that gross...but still...who actually does that??? 0_0

@Journo: Probably the same sort of people who leave poop inside sanitary napkin disposal bins. The weird thing is that from the state of the poop, they would have had to poop directly into the bin. How did they get their butt up there? And more to the point, why??

It may be good that I quit, but I so wish I had gainful employment right now.

@Brigid: Fingers crossed for new employment and sending positive waves of energy your way!

@Journo: Thanks! I appreciate it.

I've worked in housekeeping too, and it's no picnic. It definitely made me more mindful of cleaning up after myself.
