Chapter 5, Page 35 Avoiding pain.

Don't hurt the chipmunk!

This is one of the hardest sequences for me to draw so far. Partially because it was so hard living it.

I still don't understand how people can be so cruel that their first impulse on seeing a small, helpless animal is to throw stones at it.

I remember you telling about that incident.

The community of persons who enjoy inflicting pain and suffering on helpless creatures hasn't had much success in having their lifestyle choice normalized.

I rather hope they don't.

That's probably 'judgmental.'

And I probably would have done just that (or tried to) if there weren't adults around.

And poor Mary. That was really noble of her to protect that little chimpmunk.

@Journo: Normal or instinct? I have a maternal instinct that's set to 'astronomical.' It's rather annoying to those around me sometimes.
