These scene is really hard to do in comic format. Or really any format. It wasn't so much that I *heard* the door or Mom's voice (the last panel). It was more like I remembered hearing it just the moment before.

Yep. Been there, done that. I've speculated that sometimes the brain's information retrieval systems present memories that are flagged with the wrong timestamp.

That's so prosaic. What about ghosts and such? Not that Mary believes in such things or even that that's the case here. ^_^
